The Meeting Room is the new trio formation founded by Simon Nabatov. It had its premier in September 2025, at the Cologne Jazzweek Festival.

Nabatov heard and met Michael Formanek number of times in the early 80s in New York, where Michael was already an in-demand bassist of international reputation, despite his young age.

Much later Formanek appeared on Nabatov’s CD „Last Minute Theory“ (Clean Feed Records).

Nabatov first became aware of the Belgian reed player Joachim Badenhorst hearing him in various projects of the bassist/composer Pascal Niggenkemper.

„He was on my wish-list of musical collaborators for a long time now“ - says Simon.

Now the „Meeting Room“ is set up for the musical explorations and discussions, based on the new compositions by Simon Nabatov.
